Kiosk is one system for the whole shop: the till, the catalog, suppliers, staff, and your online storefront all share one stock count. This is the anchor guide — read the daily rhythm below, then open the deeper guide for whatever you are doing next. Every section links to the full walkthrough.

Start here — the daily rhythm

  1. Step 01Open the day: glance at low-stock counters, top up the till float, and unlock the cashier with your PIN.
  2. Step 02Sell: scan or search products, take cash or send an M-Pesa STK prompt, split a payment when a customer is short.
  3. Step 03Hand out the receipt — printed or digital — and move to the next customer.
  4. Step 04Close the shift: reconcile the day, note anything odd, and deposit the cash float.
  5. Step 05Weekly: record every delivery as a supply so stock stays honest, and pay suppliers from the ledger.
  6. Step 06Monthly: review unpaid bills in AP aging, spot-check margins, and tidy the catalog (missing barcodes, no-price items).

Habits that keep the shop honest

  • Record every supply — stock updates itself and cost stays attached to the vendor.
  • Group products by brand with variants instead of near-duplicate singles.
  • Set a reorder level on fast movers so the low-stock counters tell you what to buy.
  • Pay suppliers from the ledger weekly — unpaid bills stack up quietly.
  • Deactivate leavers the same day and never share the owner login.
  • Let the storefront sell for you: one catalog feeds the till and the website together.

Frequently asked

Where do I start if I am brand new?
Follow the Set up section: create the shop, claim the subdomain, add a few products (single or group), then add the first user. Take a test sale on the cashier the same day.
How do I keep stock accurate without extra work?
Record deliveries as supplies instead of editing stock by hand. Sales and the storefront already update stock automatically — supplies are the missing piece.
What is the best way to organise products?
Use groups with variants for any brand that comes in sizes or colours, packages for trays and crates, and plain single products only for true one-offs.
Can I run the till without the internet?
Yes. Cash sales keep working offline and sync when you reconnect. Finish M-Pesa payments once the network is back.
How do I get customers ordering online?
Finish your branding, make sure products have prices and stock, then share yourshop.kiosk.ke on WhatsApp and social media. Orders land in Web orders.
